THE ARTIST

Steph Jordan Artist

What makes me an Artist?

What makes anyone an Artist. Living my life everyday Artistically. When I wake up in the morning my first stop is my Art room. I love to take in the color, the shiny stuff. I love to think about what colorful thing I will create when I get home. It's an absolute rare day when I don't create some mixed media Art, some piece of jewelry, a card, something. I live and breathe Art. I appreciate Art and Artists and Nature. To me, that's what makes me an Artist.

When did I first realize I was an Artist?

When I was a child I used my imagination to create a safe and happy place for me. In that magical place I created everything. I built the landscape, the tree houses, I even created the creatures :-) Even then realizing that was what made me happy helped to keep it moving. Anything within reach that could be turned into something colorful or creative was. I made bracelets for my siblings, created box fairs for butterflies, doodled on anything and wrote lots of poetry.

What inspires me to create?

Everything! I could be eating and think how delicious this is and how can I use it to create LOL. Nature inspires me daily. I take hundreds of pictures every month. I always have a camera on hand and my cell phone. Always ready to capture what inspires me, colors, people, creatures. Today it could be the colors of fall, tomorrow it could be a scarf I saw someone wearing or something someone said.

What is my dream/goal as an Artist?

My whole purpose for creating Art is to inspire. I love to share my Art and create Art for people and myself. I believe Art can be used to soothe and heal and I try to create that. I've always dreamed of one day being in a spot where I can afford to live off of my Art only while creating and teaching everyday. The best feeling in the world is when someone calls and asks me to create something colorful for them to keep or give as a gift. Or a business asks me to create unique items for their swag, or employees or environment.  Life is good.
